**Beyond ethical, legal, and diplomatic considerations, war is also (and largely) a matter of money – from having the means to arm oneself to the lasting impact of wartime dynamics on national economy.**

What is the scale of the increasing war expenditures that Ukraine had to bear since the 2022 Russian invasion? Who came to their help the most and through what mechanisms? What has been the significant impact of the war on the Ukrainian economy, particularly on two key sectors such as grain and oilseed exports, which historically transited through the Black Sea, and steel production, for which the Russian-occupied southeast was the major industrial centre?
